I was not that familiar with the cast, but I was very impressed by the production and the acoustic effect of the opera house. Had seen many Opera DVDs from this first class opera house, but I had not been able to imagine the impact of watching it on-site. Sorry, it was the first time for me to watch/listen an opera in first class opera house. Opera houses in Japan simply can’t compare..   If you have never been in such first class opera house, you really can’t tell how good (or not good enough) of your system in home.  My next visits to Europe will be Teatro alla Scala, and Zurich Opera House.   -------------------------------------------------------------- As a music lover, Aug 2008, I was in Verona Arena, Italy, for Aida and Rigoletto. Very very impressive. The acoustic effect was better than originally thought and was quite similar to in-house. As the stage was big so the productions were impressive.  Leo Nucci in Rigoletto was still very very good and he is my most favorite baritone.  In Venice, went to a concert held in a church. I liked the acoustic reflection in such place. You will never know the impact until you try the same in church.
