Description
A vintage radio for Christmas! What a great and unique gift idea for that special someone who appreciates the days of radio in the post-WWII period. With its famous black dial and classic bullseye dial pointer, this Zenith Consoltone Model 5D011 (circa 1946) has been completely and professionally restored both electronically and cosmetically, so it sounds as good as it looks. All original except for a new Quam speaker and grille cloth, and a reproduction back, restoration included complete chassis re-cap, replacement of all out-of-spec resistors and vacuum tubes, new power cord, and complete IF and RF alignment. The classic red-brown bakelite case has no significant visible scratches or flaws, and has been gently buffed to its original luster. Tunes the AM band and finds lots of stations with plenty of volume and great sound. Dimensions are approximately 12/38" x 6 1/4" high x 6 1/2" deep. This remarkable piece of radio history makes a perfect decorator item or conversation piece for home or well-appointed office, and any long time baseball fan will tell you there is nothing like the "warmth" and "presence" of the tube radio sound and its ability to mimic actually being out at the ballpark. Return to yesteryear when the On-Off switch, rather than offering instant gratification, merely initiated a couple minutes of tube warmup that only heightened anticipation before the entertainment began. Think about it -a radio for Christmas! This one is very uncommon; don't miss a chance to own it or give it as a truly unusual and meaningful gift for someone special on your list. No reserve bidding! A copy of the schematic diagram and service information will be included. Approximate dimensions are 12 3/8" wide x 6 1/4" high x 6 1/2" deep. This item is guaranteed operational and as described but, as with all vintage electronics, no other warranty is made or implied. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. ALL PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE WITHIN 5 DAYS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION.
