(APC) comes in with the H10 power conditioner. Offered here is a brand new and factory sealed APC H10 in Silver color. APC is known for designing power supplies, suppressors and conditioners for NASA, and the medical field (particularly hospital applications)., and only APC offers A/V power protection units that provide full power conditioning including surge protection, noise filtering, and automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to optimize the system’s sound and video performance. Unstable power can destroy component power supplies and negatively impact sound and video quality. The H10 aids in elimination of power anomalies such as brownout (low voltage)…over voltage…voltage distortion…lightning…noise interference…spikes….and surges…that threaten home entertainment component hardware and A/V signal integrity. The H10 features a total of 12 surge-protected and filtered outlets, ensuring complete protection for all components. Six of these outlets have EMI/RFI noise filtering for digital devices such as HDTV monitors, Digital Video Recorders, satellite dishes, and DVD players. The other six outlets are two analog, two video, and two high current (amplifier, subwoofer) filtered outlets. The component-specific noise filtering banks prevent video and audio signal distortion. The H10 also incorporates RJ-11 2-Way Modem/Fax/DSL splitter with protection (four wire dual lines), and Co-axial Video / Cable protection. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) eliminates voltage fluctuations as a source of A/V signal degradation. Other A/V features include sequenced turn on/off functionality that regulates the way audio equipment is powered up/down. This feature prevents equipment damage caused by not turning A/V components on and off in the correct order. The H10 also offers inductor-less filtering for high current components, DC Voltage triggering, display screen, and a high quality fit and brushed aluminum finish that will fit into any home theater collection. APC’s A/V Power Conditioners include an Equipment Protection Policy (EPP). If properly connected equipment is damaged due to the failure of APC’s H10, APC will pay to repair or replace that equipment regardless of cost (see policy for details). Unlike typical homeowner's insurance policies, APC's EPP does not require paying premiums and is good for life. Complete specs are available here. A Note About Let-Through Voltage This is a measure, established by the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE), of total voltage allowed though a device during a transient on the power line. According to UL’s 1449 standard, a Let-Through Voltage of < 330V is considered good. The APC H10 A/V power conditioner has a Let-Through Voltage rating of < 40V! According to IEEE, Let-Through Voltage Rating is the best indication of surge suppression performance (the lower the # the better). Most power conditioner companies tout Joule rating as an indicator of surge suppression. A Joule rating only communicates how much energy is required to break down the surge suppressor, but gives no indication as to the surge suppressor’s effectiveness of preventing a surge and spikes from reaching your equipment.
