I can ship a small package anywhere in the USA for around $6, while shipping the same item to myself costs over $8 and to ship to some parts of Canada is over $15.  This is because Canada post has only parcel rate in Canada but honors small packet rates to USA and other countries.  Shipping on large items, however,  to the USA can be very expensive compared to shipping rates within USA using USPS.   Handling charges are INCLUDED in quoted shipping prices.
