Monitor Angle Adjustment: You can adjust the monitor's angle for better visibility. You can choose one of four angles. Video Lock-out Feature: For safety and legal reasons, the IVA-W200 features a video lock-out feature to prevent the viewing of a video source while the vehicle is in motion. To watch a video source, the vehicle must be parked with the ignition in the ACC or ON position. The vehicle's parking brake must be engaged, disengaged, and engaged again while the foot brake is held in. Illumination Control: You can select one of the following dimmer settings: Auto: adjusts the brightness of the background illumination of the monitor depending on the ambient light in your vehicle On: keeps the background illumination of the monitor dark Off: keeps the background illumination of the monitor bright Background Screen: You have a choice of 2 different background textures. These backgrounds are visible when a CD, MP3/WMA, or the tuner is selected. When "Auto Background" is activated, the background texture will change each time the ignition key is turned off and turned on again. Simultaneous Function: This function allows you to watch the video portion of one source, while listening to the audio portion of another source. MP3/WMA Playback: This unit can play CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs containing MP3 and WMA files recorded using the ISO 9660 Level 1 or Level 2 formats; constant and variable bit rates from 32 kbps to 320 kbps are supported for MP3 and 32 kbps to 320 kbps for WMA. Discs recorded using Joliet, Romeo, or other ISO 9660 compliant formats can be played, but file and folder names may not be displayed correctly. CD-ROM XA, Mixed Mode CD, Enhanced CD (CD-Extra) and multi-session recordings are supported, but recordings made using Track At Once or packet writing cannot be correctly played back. Discs containing both standard CD audio and MP3 data can be played; the unit may be set to play only the CD audio tracks or both types of tracks. ID3 tag v1 and WMA tag are supported; track title, artist name and album name ID3 tag data can be displayed. You cannot use this function with an external amplifier. iPod Full Speed: When used with the optional KCE-422i Alpine Full Speed Connection cable (500KCE422i), your receiver can interface with any Apple iPod with a dock connector. You can quickly and easily search through all of the music contained on your iPod through Playlist, Artist, or Album searches. You can view Artist, Album, Song Information and Song Number right on the head unit's display. The IVA-W200 will not navigate or display video files from video capable iPods. Satellite Radio Ready: There are several options for connecting an optional XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio receiver to the IVA-W200. To receive XM Satellite Radio, you can connect the optional Terk XMD1000 Universal tuner (209XMD1000) and the Terk XM Direct Smart Digital Adapter for Alpine (209XMDALP1). To receive SIRIUS Satellite Radio, you can connect the optional SIRIUS tuner for Alpine (item # 607SIRALP1) directly to the head unit. A portable satellite radio receiver can be connected to the head unit via an auxiliary input adapter. A compatible antenna and a subscription are also required to receive satellite radio programming from SIRIUS or XM. HD Radio Ready: The IVA-W200 can receive HD Radio signals when the TUA-T500HD HD Radio Tuner Module (500TUAT500) is connected via the Ai-NET connector. While receiving HD Radio, the unit can automatically switch between the analog and digital signals, or you can manually switch to the analog signals exclusively. Bluetooth Interface Ready: With the optional KCA-100BT Bluetooth adapter (item # 500KCA1BT), you can make and receive calls hands-free on your Bluetooth-capable cellular phone, and communicate through an included microphone and your vehicle's speakers. USB Adapter Ready: With the optional KCA-620M USB adapter (item # 500KCA620M), you can connect and control MP3 players that have USB connections. In addition, if you have MP3s stored on a USB thumb drive, you can select and play those files from the head unit. Auxiliary Input Ready: With the addition of the optional KCA-121B Ai-NET/RCA interface cable, the KCA-801B auxiliary input adapter, or the KCA-410C Versatile-Link Terminal, the audio from an auxiliary source can be played through this unit. When the KCA-121B interface cable is used, a CD changer cannot be connected to the head unit; the KCA-801B auxiliary input adapter allows you to connect an auxiliary source and an Ai-NET changer to the head unit. The KCA-410C Versatile-Link Terminal allows you to feed audio from up to two auxiliary sources and two Ai-NET CD changers to the head unit. Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility (Not included): The IVA-W200 has a "steering remote control" jack on the back panel. When used with the optional SWI-ALP interface (item #127SWIALP), you can retain the use of your factory steering wheel and/or rear seat radio controls when replacing the factory head unit in select vehicles. The SWI-ALP is compatible with over 95% of the vehicles made from 1986 to the present. External Audio Processor: When an optional Alpine external audio processor is connected to this unit, you can operate it from the unit. Dozens of settings can be adjusted, including crossover adjustment, time correction, phase switching, EQ adjustments, surround sound adjustments, and speaker levels. DVD/Video CD Controls DVD Menu Direct Touch Control: The unique PulseTouch touchscreen allows you to activate selections on the DVD main menu by directly touching the screen on the desired selection instead of navigating choices using cursors. DVD Control Menu: During DVD playback, the control menu is accessible by touching the screen. The 2-page menu appears at the bottom of the screen allowing you to skip tracks forward or backward, stop or pause playback, access the DVD menu, change the audio language, subtitle language, camera angles, and change the display modes. You can also access a "10-key" numeric keyboard for direct chapter access. If desired, you can access a more traditional cursor-type menu for DVD control. Dolby Digital and DTS Compatibility: When the optical digital output (standard Toslink) on the rear of the head unit is connected to an optional Alpine digital audio processor, you can enjoy Dolby Digital and DTS surround. Pre-stop Function: When the Pre-stop function is used, the position at which playback is stopped is stored in the memory, and playback resumes from that position. Step/Slow Motion Playback: When a DVD or Video CD is in the pause mode, you may move forward through the program being played one step (frame) at a time, or in one of the following slow motion speeds: 1/2 or 1/8. When playing a DVD, you can use slow motion playback in the reverse direction. Fast-Forward/Fast-Reverse: While a DVD or Video CD is playing, you can view the program in double speed in either direction by touching and holding the fast-forward or fast-reverse button on the touchscreen for more than 1 second. If held for 5 or more seconds, playback at 8x speed in the selected direction will begin. If held for 10 or more seconds, playback at 21x speed will begin. Repeat Playback: When playing a DVD, you can repeat the current title or the current chapter. When playing a Video CD, you can repeat the current track or the entire disc. Multi-Angle Display: This function allows you to choose the viewing angle of scenes that were shot from a number of different angles. Note: This function is limited to DVDs recorded with multiple camera angles. Parental Lock: Parental Lock allows you to restrict the playback of DVDs that are unsuitable for younger viewers. You can select a parental lock rating from 0-8, which is protected by a 4-digit password. Digital Output: You can select a digital output setting of Auto or LPCM. When set to Auto, the digital output is switched automatically according to the type of audio signals being played. When set to LPCM, the audio signals recorded on the disc are converted to 48kHz/16-bit (for DVDs) or 44.1kHz (for Video CDs and CDs) linear PCM audio signals for output. Controls for Add-on Components: The IVA-W200 can control the following optional add-on components: Navigation System, HD Radio tuner, DVD changer, CD changer, XM or SIRIUS receiver, and audio processor. Changer Controls Compatibility: This unit is compatible with 6- and 12-disc Alpine Ai-NET CD changers; also, this unit can control Alpine Ai-NET CD/MP3 changers and DVD changers. Alpine M-Bus CD changers cannot be controlled by this unit. Multiple Changer Control: With the addition of an optional adapter, more than one CD changer can be controlled. One KCA-400C adapter will allow you to connect up to 4 CD changers, and two KCA-400C adapters will allow you to connect up to a total of 6 CD changers. You can also use the KCA-410C Versatile Link adapter to connect 2 changers and 2 auxiliary input sources. Inputs and Outputs Notes Optical Digital Output: There is a standard Toslink optical digital output on the back of the monitor for connecting the unit to an optional audio processor. Auxiliary Input: Stereo RCA jacks and an RCA composite video jack are provided for connecting an external video source such as a VCR, DVD player, or video game. Auxiliary Output: Stereo RCA jacks and an RCA composite video jack are provided for feeding A/V signals to an optional video monitor. When the Rear Entertainment Function is used and these jacks are connected to a rear seat entertainment system (e.g. a rear seat monitor and wireless headphones), your rear seat passengers can view/listen to a different source than the one selected for the front passengers. Navigation Input: The IVA-W200 provides a 13-pin RGB jack for connecting an optional Alpine navigation system. Preamp Inputs/Outputs: When the system switch is in the Normal position, the IVA-W200 provides preamp outputs for front, rear, and subwoofer channels. When the system switch is in the EQ/DIV position, the front and rear preamp connections operate as inputs, allowing you to connect an optional EQ or audio processor. Rear Camera Input: A single composite video input is provided for an optional rear-view camera. If a rear-view camera is connected, you should also connect the reverse lead (orange/white wire in the Remote in/out wiring harness) to the vehicle's back-up lamp circuit. When properly connected, the image from the rear-view camera appears on the monitor when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Disc Compatibility: The NVE-N872A is compatible with DVD-ROM navigation map discs only and cannot play standard video DVDs. DVD Navigation Maps: The unit comes with two DVD Navigation Map discs (NVD-A801): Smart Map Pro Program Version 1.00 North disc with application and South disc. The South disc includes maps of the contiguous United States and Hawaii. The North disc includes northern portions of the contiguous United States and the southern portions of Canada. The navigation map discs contain over 9 million Points of Interest. Remote Control: The system can be fully controlled by the supplied wireless remote control (RUE-4140). The remote's IR signals are picked up by the monitor and transmitted to the navigation unit. The remote has an Audio/NAV switch which allows you to control compatible Alpine head units as well as the navigation functions. Voice Control System: Most of the system's functions can be controlled by voice commands. The voice control system is activated with the supplied microphone and Speak button. Dozens of voice commands are recognized by the system, including "Show map", "Zoom In", "Zoom Out", "Where am I?", "Go home", and "Nav Menu." In addition, the voice control system can be used for audio controls if the unit is connected to the IVA-D310 Mobile Multimedia Station. Touch Panel Control: If the NVE-N872A is connected to an Alpine touch panel unit, such as the IVA-D310 Mobile Multimedia Station, you can control the navigation system by touching the monitor's screen. Touch commands include scrolling through menu items, entering information using the on-screen keyboard, changing the map scale, and changing the map orientation. GPS: The NVE-N872A has a built-in parallel 12-channel GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) receiver, and includes a magnetic GPS antenna. The antenna must be mounted in a place where it can best receive the GPS signals, such as the roof or trunk of the vehicle, to provide the most accurate positioning information. Gyroscope/Speed Sensor: The unit includes a built-in gyroscope for sensing direction and a speed pulse sensor for detecting distance provide data which allows the vehicle position and direction to be displayed even in location where the GPS signals cannot be received, such as between high buildings or in tunnels. Automatic Route Calculation: The navigation system displays and tracks your vehicle's position and movement via a moving map display. When you input a destination, the navigation system quickly calculates a route and guides you with pictorial displays and voice prompts. Map Guidance Displays: Once the route has been calculated and driving begins, the Basic Guidance Display automatically appears. Pressing the MP/RG button on the remote allows you to select the Detailed Map Display for more information. When you approach an intersection, the Zoomed Intersection Map of that intersection is displayed. Destination Input: The Destination Menu gives you many different ways to choose your destination: Address: you can input your destination's address by street and city Point of Interest: you can enter a Point of Interest by place name or place type Previous Destinations: if your destination is one of the fifty most recent route calculations, you can recall that destination Address Book: if a location has already been placed into your personal address book, you can recall the location for use as a destination Intersection: you can enter the intersection of two streets and make it your destination Phone Number: you can enter the phone number of the point of interest you are heading to, you can find the destination address Freeway Entrance: you can search for a location from the freeway entrance or exit Latitude/Longitude: if you know the latitude and longitude of the desired location, you can input those numbers to find the destination location Today's Plan: the Today's Plan function can calculate the most efficient travel order for multiple destinations. Up to 100 destinations can be stored in Today's Plan. Home: if you have registered a location as "home", you can enter "Home" as your destination Favorites: any location registered as a "favorite" can be used as a destination ZAGAT 2004: you can enter any location supplied by the 2004 Zagat Survey U.S. Restaurant Guide to help you find directions to any restaurant Map Scrolling and Map Input: any street segment or Point of Interest that appears on the Detailed Map display can be entered as a destination Address Book: Up to 300 addresses can be stored alphabetically in the Address Book. Waypoints: You can set up to 1 waypoint from your current location to the current destination. POI Icons: The navigation system can display up to 14 different Points of Interest icons around the cursor position when you scroll the map. These include ATMs, banks, gas stations, grocery stores, hotels/motels, parking lots, convenience stores, bed and breakfasts, post offices, hospitals, and restaurants. The brand icons of eight gasoline companies are shown at gas station locations. Setting Current Position: This function allows you to correct any error in the position or direction of your vehicle icon in the display. Displaying the Entire Route: The navigation system allows you to view the entire route so you can verify if the route calculation is correct. Route Calculation Method: Depending on the time of day, you may want to alter the way the system calculates the route. You can choose from the following route calculation methods: Quickest: calculates the most efficient way to arrive at your destination Shortest: calculates the shortest route to your destination Maximize Freeways: calculates a route that makes most efficient use of freeways Minimize Freeways: calculates a route that uses mostly surface streets Minimize Toll Roads: calculates a route that minimizes the number of toll roads Use Ferry: when calculating a route, you can set whether to use a ferry or not. Off-route Recalculation: If you deviate from the suggested route, the system can recalculate a route to get you back on the way to your destination. You can choose to have the system automatically recalculate the route or await confirmation before recalculating the route. Detour Function: If during a route you require the system to detour around an obstacle, you may use the Detour button to automatically recalculate a new route. Map Screen Orientation: You can select one of the following map screen orientations: North Up: the map display is positioned so that north is always at the top of the screen. The Present Vehicle Position icon will rotate on the map. Heading Up: the Present Vehicle Position icon can be positioned so that its current direction is always pointing to the top of the screen. In this case, the icon remains frozen in the center of the display while the map rotates with each turn. Estimated Time Display: When the system calculates a route, it also estimates the time it will take to arrive at the destination. It will display this estimate as the arrival time, or the time remaining to reach the destination. Adjustable Voice Guidance Type/Frequency: The system allows you to choose the type or frequency of audible prompts you receive as you are guided along your route. When set to the Minimum mode, the system will emit tones only when approaching upcoming maneuvers. When set to the Normal mode, the system will emit tones and voice instructions when approaching upcoming maneuvers. The Maximum setting includes voice guidance for street names using the TTS (text-to-speech) Engine. Audio Interrupt: The Audio Interrupt function allows the navigation system to mute a compatible radio while voice prompts are being played. Note: For this feature to work, the pink mute wire of this unit must be connected to the cellular mute wire of your head unit. Recalibration: If you install the navigation system into a different vehicle or replace the tires on your current vehicle, the system is automatically recalibrated. Backup: The navigation system will automatically back up your new settings when the ignition switch is turned off. Using the menu system, you can manually back up the settings. Mounting: Using the supplied hardware, the NVE-N872A can be mounted on the floor or under the rear deck of your vehicle. The unit can be mounted up to 30 degrees from horizontal.
