I purchased this Balanced Audio Technology VK-3 in 1998, second hand, from venerable outlet Stereo Exchange in New York City, for $1500. Upgraded to VK-3i remote functionality, for $600, at BAT laboratories the same year -- I hand delivered and picked up, getting to meet the designers, and see prototypes unknown to the public at the time! During the intervening years the unit has never left our smoke-free home. This is the cleanest, quietest preamp I have ever used, and if it weren't for an extreme personal money crunch I would never let it go. Uses balanced XLR interconnects only for input/output. However, adapters for RCA interconnects are easily obtained, and work perfectly. I include a pair of "Radio Shack" level adapters for demonstration purpose -- better adapters are available at your local high end dealer, or through BAT directly (BAT also sells excellent tubes, should you need to replace any or all at some point. The four 6922's were replaced about a year ago.) Includes the elegant aluminum remote, heavy duty removable power cable, original manual, screw removal tool, original receipt, and other assorted papers. In perfect working order now, and is guaranteed to be the same in your home. Unit will be packed professionally and fully insured. Overall cosmetic condition is excellent -- a couple of very minor abrasions on bottom side edges, nothing untoward visible on the front plate. Unit is set up for 120V U.S. current only (consult Balanced Audio for possible conversion).
