Please contact us at: mail@chaudioroom.com for questions when this auction is not active. A low shipping flat fee of $220 for most countries, please read shipping details. CH805BW Wood Multicellular Horn Lobed mouth, Cork underlie Finished in Natural Shellac Fully lobed version with cork underlie for extra damping and superb performance! Smoother, sweet and articulated reproduction with " life like" space and air among instruments, resolution of detail is revealing with a vivid and transparent "concert in your room" magic quality and captivating " live" performance with body, weight and presence. Throughout the many years of testing the reproduction of many musical instruments, to my findings, wood horns are the highest expression reproducing them, created to get the listener as closed to a live performance as possible, capturing and reproducing continuous transparent neutrality and purity of reproduction, rendering music with the inherent sweetness and impact of a live instrument. They are simply awesome! Wood horns and especially multicellular are truly harder to manufacture than the metal counterpart, we believe is worth the extra effort. After all how many metal violins are to be found ? Any aluminum piano or flute ? The distortion levels of these horn / driver configuration are utterly low, thanks to their high efficiency and the low power required to drive the diaphragm micro-displacement even at high sound levels, a wide dispersion pattern of 80 degrees horizontal and 40 degrees in the vertical plane, a full lobed design all wood construction and underlie of cork for extra damping of resonances, offering even a smoother frequency response, resulting in a superbly natural and low distortion reproduction. Multicellular horns are formed by a cluster of smaller exponential horn cells, available in different numbers according to their dispersion pattern, each cell is small enough to avoid beaming in a large frequency range, however they start beaming at the highest frequencies but thanks to the circular pattern formed by the cluster of many individual cells the coverage is quite uniform, together they form a large sector of a sphere large enough to control directivity down to fairly low frequencies. The cluster acts as one big horn at the lower frequencies. Smooth response. Cut-off frequency of 250 Hz. Recommended crossover 500Hz. - 800Hz Wide dispersion of higher frequencies thanks to the multicellular design. Made mainly of Basswood that offers the advantage among other woods of a low resonance and are almost sonically dead (does not ring or decays slowly as a bell ) and the weight is only 4 Lbs 10 oz. per horn! These new horns are manufactured with sound damping 1/4" cork underlie, covering the back of each cell in the multicellular structure with even less resonances than before and full lobed mouths, offering an amazing smooth and natural reproduction. Only natural glue and wood is used, no fiberglass or any other synthetic plastics are used. All natural Shellac finish. The mounting flange is made of aircraft grade Birch plywood with stainless steel hardware to mount to the provided all wood throat adapter wave-guide with 1/4 -20 stainless steel mounting bolts, (provided). Handcrafted with most care and high attention to detail ! The wave-guides are a representation of the highest quality of craftsmanship as well, formed and shaped by a special high pressure process, with all wood and natural glue materials, offering a very smooth transition from the round throat area of the driver end to the square mouth connecting to the multicellular horn assembly. The wave guides shown are for the 1.4" Altec 288 drivers, the longer waveguide shown mounted on the base is for the bigger CH1505BW horn and is not offered in this auction. Truly a Masterpiece of sound and craftsmanship! Shipping Worldwide Thanks to a special agreement with an air cargo shipping company we can offer International airport-to-airport air shipping to many cities of the world for a flat fee of $220 including full insurance. The airport to airport option may save a lot in shipping and insurance charges national and international as well if available or suitable for your location. Once scheduled it takes only one day transit time to most cities!. Please email us to find-out if it is a possible option for you. Shipped in one box with an approximated weight of 25 Lbs., measuring 24 x 24 x 32 inches. A 30-day refund if not 100% satisfied with the CH805BW multicellular horns, providing there is no damage and returned in the same condition as received. The buyer is responsible for shipping and Custom expenses both ways. Due to the nature and fees involved in the auction a re-stocking fee of 15% of the total sale price is charged for any returned item. 7 Years limited Warranty. CH Audio will repair or replace the CH805BW multicellular horns against any manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for seven years from the delivery date, providing that the multicellular horns are not abused or misused and kept off rain or water / high humidity or excessive heat, attacked by insects, or animals, dropped, broken by misuse or punctured in any way, re-coating or painting the multicellular horns will void the warranty. This auction is for a pair of CH805BW multicellular wood horns, and a pair of all wood wave-guides. Please visit us at: www.chaudiodesign.com Altec drivers, adjustable stands bases and crossovers shown, if any, are not included in this auction. The Horns and wave guides depicted are not the actual items for sale, a new set will be ready to ship in 3 to 5 weeks after "Buy it now" and full payment is received.color tone and wood pattern may vary slightly. All the following measurements are taken under normal listening levels Spectrum Analysis of a high frequency driver with and without the 805 horn. The blue trace is the response of the driver alone, the red trace is the same driver and same conditions and parameters with the CH805BW attached. The frequency response for the driver is not completely flat and is reflected in the final response of the horn, but the horn greatly improves the flatness of the response curve in the lower range, not affecting the higher frequencies at all, also the curve is smoother in comparison showing clearly the great performance of the CH805BW. Measurements were taken on axis at 1 meter. (3 feet) under normal listening levels at 1/3 octave spectra . Spectrum Analysis of a mid frequency driver with and without the 805 horn. The blue trace is the response of the driver alone, the red trace is the same driver and same conditions and parameters with the CH805BW attached. The frequency response for the driver is not completely flat and is reflected in the final response of the horn, but the horn greatly improves the flatness of the response curve in the lower range, an improvement of the higher frequencies is clearly seen, the curve is smoother in comparison, showing once again the great performance of the CH805BW. Measurements were taken on axis at 1 meter. (3 feet) under normal listening levels at 1/12 octave spectra to clearly show peaks of the driver and the CH805BW The bottom trace shows the electrical pulses fed to the 288 driver, top trace (left) is the driver acoustical response to the pulses, clearly showing the response and ringing of the diaphragm / driver combination. Measurements made at the mouth of the driver without any horn. Pulses are 5 ms apart 0.5 V in amplitude Bottom trace (right) shows the same electrical pulses fed to the same 288 driver, the top trace (left) shows the acoustical response to the pulses by the diaphragm / driver with the CH805BW / wave guide adapter installed. Measurement made at the mouth of the horn Pulses are 20ms apart 0.5V peak amplitude.Showing the same amplitude as before without the horn installed but at lower ringing frequency due to the loading of the diaphragm by the horn. This comparison tests show the great damping effect of the cork / wood combination with very low remaining ringing induced by the CH805BW.This ringing of the diaphragm is a normal condition caused by inertia after the pulse is applied in which the energized diaphragm moves relatively free in the compliant suspension that acts as a spring restrained by the counter electromotive force induced by it's opposite movement in the strong magnetic field and other mechanical factors that act as an active dampening force. A similitude is when a spring is held from one end then pushing the other end to one side letting it free to swing side to side, diminishing in swing travel until it stops after few swings or cycles, the amplitude and duration of the swinging motion depends on many factors such as how far is the initial force applied, length, stiffness and the forces acting against that motion, for example the spring won't swing as much if it is inside water or oil.All rights reserved.
