Description
sfroy Store What started out as a minor ear infection has now rendered this long-time aficionado and collector of McIntosh equipment partially deaf.Since hearing recovery is not an option, I have decided to part with ever piece I own.  All will be listed weekly on eBay.  Kindly do not contact me regarding equipment that is not currently up for auction. The centerpiece of our home theater – MX120 Home Theater Processor – is offered for your bidding pleasure with no reserve. It was purchased just one year ago and, as of August 2008, had a complete system check to insure its performance is at, or above factory specification.  Unfortunately, the remaining two years of warranty are not transferable.  For complete specifications I would urge a bidder to visit the www.mcintoshlabs.com to appreciate the full sensitivity and flexibility  of this remarkable Processor/Preamplifier.The MX120, purchased new, now retails for $8,000, and for good reason.  It is a complete audiophile’s control center that combines McIntosh’s unparalleled analog two channel stereo performance with the most advanced digital audio and video formats in a preamplifier and surround sound processor. For example, sound quality for the audiophile is captured by pure analog two-channel bypass modes as well as a virtually noise free MM phono preamp. The current and most stable video surround architecture provides four assignable High-Definition HDMI digital inputs, five component video inputs and an additional six inputs, which have both audio and video signal paths.  All inputs are fully re-nameable through on-screen video and audio re-assignment.  Accordingly, preferred listening modes can be assigned to each input as well as separate bass and treble setting for each audio and/or video source. The MX120 is capable of supporting virtually all video modes through digital video up-conversion of older formats.  For example, Composite, S-video and Component analog video can be digitally up-converted to 720p. enhancing and conforming to the latest high definition (HD) display technology. Thus television and separate video sources also may be further scaled to digital 720p.  Of course, pure HD HDMI sources are automatically switched and supported at the highest 1080p line rate, producing the finest picture reproduction currently available in such a multifunction Home Theater Processor,  That being said, color accuracy is dependent on the quality of your digital television or monitor. There are balanced XLR outputs for the primary three channels as well as balanced (XLR) stereo inputs.  Both reduce extraneous noise by as much as 20%.Cosmetically this MX120 is almost flawless, I have attempted to show two tiny dings in the railings (see pictures 12 and 13).  Naturally, this beauty will ship in its original double box along with the owner’s manual and programmable remote control, and power cord.  The double box will be further protected by yet a slightly larger third box, as the original containers are in mint condition.  Since I no longer need them, I have included over $750 worth of cables; pictured are the following: 2 pair of 1 meter M-1000i RCA [retail $225/pair = $450]; one pair of 3 meter M850i-3M [retail = $150]; Acoustic Research 2 meter DMI→HDMI cable [retail = $75];Two new McIntosh component interconnects with accompanied new 8 foot extensions – used to control other McIntosh equipment from the MX120 [retail about $40] and a group of other cables and connectors including a Sound Quest “Y” adapter.  The buyer will receive more cables than photographed, as some are hiding in one of my closets, waiting to be found.  Cables will be shipped separately, as McIntosh did not design their protective boxes to accomadate  anything other than the unit itself.  Happy bidding!
