Description
McIntosh MPI-4 Maximum Performance Indicator I am an avid collector of vintage McIntosh and Marantz products. I usually buy excellent to mint condition units and either make cosmetic repairs to them myself or have Mike Zucarro (see below) repair what is wrong with them electronically and either keep them for my collection or relist them. This unit was just serviced and repaired by Mike Zucarro in San Diego (authorized McIntosh repairman). He found a bad capacitor/resistor on the oscilliscope board that was preventing the dispaly from centering horizontally and vertically. He also recalibrated the unit to factory specs, cleaned all the pots and bench tested the unit. (See his repair sticker on the back of the unit in the last photo). Here are the details on the unit: Condition: Excellent Cosmetics: Glass is perfect, no bubbles. Case is clean, no scratches, nicks or dings. There is a very small nick in the silver on the frame that surrounds the scope window. Those of you that are familiar with these older units will know that the legs on the bottom screw into 4 nuts that are part of the bottom cover on the unit. One of these nuts came un-welded/glued from the bottom cover plate. It has been fixed by simply keeping the legs attached to the bottom, hence keeping the retaining nut in place inside the unit. I am only pointing this out becasue I am very thorough with my descriptions but if you do want to put the unit in it's appropriate L-52 case, this will have to be addressed. (I am guessing that some JB Weld would work nicely). Electronics: Unit works perfectly. All scope functions work as they should including stereo, level and trace/dual trace displays (see photos). Scope display is bright and sharp. There is no evidence of residual burn-in on the display either. Items Included: I am including a copy of the original owners manual and the unit comes with the original McIntosh box and packing material. The unit also has its original feet installed on the bottom of the unit. Items Not Included: PanLoc brackets, cabinet. As stated, this is a very nice, recently serviced unit in excellent condition. If you need more photos, please ask. The unit is at my office and it's pretty easy for me to take additional pictures. I am going to list a flat rate shipping fee of $60 but if it ends up being less than that, I will only charge you the actual shipping cost. I prefer FedEx and plan to simply send the unit in it's original box. If you prefer a different method, please let me know so we can discuss. Thank you.
