At the core of the FP 7000’s performance is a breakthrough advance in Lab.gruppen’s patented Class TD® output stage, an amplifier topology that approaches the exceptional efficiency of Class D while retaining the sonic purity of proven Class B designs. Further contributing to the remarkable efficiency of the FP 7000 is a Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply (R.SMPS™), which gives the added benefit of stabilizing rail voltages to the output even with wide fluctuations of mains voltage. A highly refined and updated circuit layout optimizes the interaction of R.SMPS and Class TD to produce the extraordinary power density of the FP 7000. The FP 7000 is shipped with a NomadLink® network interface as standard. In conjunction with DeviceControl PC software, NomadLink allows monitoring of all key amplifier parameters and remote control of power on/off, channel mutes, and channel solo functions. (NomadLink requires the separate NLB 60E NomadLink Bridge & Network Controller) Features:Unprecedented power density – The FP 7000 delivers a total of 7000W (2 x 3500 W @ 2 ohms) in only 2U.Lab.gruppen sound quality – FP 7000 amplifiers maintain the impeccable sonic performance standards set by the original fP Series, with the same durability and even greater efficiency.NomadLink® network ready – Monitoring and control of keyfunctions accessible via the intuitive DeviceControl software and the robust, daisy-chained NomadLink® network.Patented Class TD amplifier topology – Road-proven output stage delivers Class B audio quality with Class D efficiency.Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply (R.SMPS) – Output power remains constant even with significant drops in the mains voltage.Efficient cooling system – Unique, lightweight Intercooler® copper cooling system dissipates more heat to allow extended peak output.Adjustable parameters – Selectable Gain, scalable Voltage Peak Limiter (VPL), and bridge-mode operation allow custom configuration for any system or application.XLR input and link connectors.Heavy-duty binding post output connectors.Comprehensive protection and warning – Excessive output current, DC, high temperature, very high frequency (VHF), short circuit, open load, mains fuse protection, and soft start. Front Panel The FP 7000 is shipped with a NomadLink® network interface as standard. In conjunction with DeviceControl PC software, NomadLink allows monitoring of all key amplifier parameters and remote control of power on/off, channel mutes, and channel solo functions. (NomadLink requires the separate NLB 60E NomadLink Bridge & Network Controller) View all key performance parameters at a glance – in real time – on the comprehensive front panel display. The FP+ provides the most complete and useful front panel indication on the market today. Bright, color-coded LEDs give clear status indication of all control activation, warnings and faults – without scrolling through menus. Conditions such as blown drivers, shorted lines, and over-temperature channels are easily recognizable. You won’t waste time trying to decipher a generic “trouble light.” Rear Panel The FP+ rear panel provides all the input and output connections you’ll need plus RJ45 in and out for NomadLink control and monitoring. With the DIP-switch matrix, you can assign a hard or soft attack to the limiter functions, set overall gain to one of seven different levels, bridge any pair of channels, and set the VPL for optimum output characteristics with the connected load. All in a matter of seconds while the amp is in the rack. Inside The Amplifier To achieve the extreme power-to-size ratio in the FP+ Series, Lab.gruppen engineers refined and upgraded two proprietary technologies: the regulated switch-mode power supply (R.SMPS™) and the patented Class TD® output stage. Both are incorporated in all four FP+ Series amplifiers. Working together, this new generation of proprietary circuits produces more power from a smaller package while at the same time maintaining Lab.gruppen’s peerless reputation for sonic excellence. To ensure efficient, uniform cooling, the ultra-efficient Intercooler® uses thousands of tiny cooper cooling fins to increase exposure of the heat sink to the cooling air flow. Twin variable-speed fans respond to temperature sensors, forcing air over the Intercooler fins in a front-to-rear flow. All output devices are mounted transverse to the airflow, so the cooling effect is uniform. There are no “end-of-tunnel” output transistors subject to greater warming and, consequently, possible premature failure. Signal Flow Overall amplifier gain (input sensitivity) is adjustable in eight steps from +23 dB to +44 dB via three rear-panel-mounted DIP-switches, making it possible to precisely match the amplifier to any input source device. Individual channel gain is adjustable in 3 dB increments from 0 dB to -infinity via four front-panel-mounted level potentiometers. These are located below the indicators, and behind the detachable front panel grille, which effectively serves as a security cover. The Voltage Peak Limiter (VPL) is fully user-adjustable, providing the unique option of selecting maximum output peak voltage and thereby the maximum output power. This is convenient when using the amplifier to drive speakers with different power requirements, and when connecting to constant voltage systems requiring 70 V or 100 V at the output. Eight individual output voltage levels are selectable. The Current Peak Limiter (CPL) protects amplifier and power supply modules, as well as preventing damage to connected loads. Following the VPL and CPL circuits, several other important monitoring and protection features are provided. These include circuits for monitoring and control of voltage, current, and temperature. FP+ Series amplifiers are a lasting investment. Designed and built in the tradition that has made Lab.gruppen world-famous among tour sound companies, FP+ is an icon for reliable amplification and consistently superior performance over the long term. FP+ Series: The Benchmark for Touring Power With the FP+ Series, Lab.gruppen takes to the road with more power, increased channel density, and enhanced configuration flexibility. The bottom line is greater return on your amplifier investment. More Power. Less Weight. Zero Sonic Compromises...Built in Sweden to Tour the World The Lab.gruppen FP+ Series was designed and engineered to achieve unprecedented channel and power density. Simply put, FP+ amplifiers allow you to configure racks of any size – for any mobile reinforcement application – using fewer, smaller, and lighter amplifiers. A very few compact racks, each easily maneuvered by a single person, now can power an arena-sized system with headroom to spare. Each FP+ amplifier is 2U high and weighs a mere 12 kg (less than 27 lbs). Yet each produces nearly twice the clean, sustained output power of equivalent predecessor fP Series models. To achieve this extreme channel density and power-to-size ratio, Lab.gruppen engineers refined and upgraded two proprietary technologies: the regulated switch-mode power supply (R.SMPS™) and the patented Class TD® output stage. Both are incorporated in all four FP+ Series amplifiers. Working together, this new generation of proprietary circuits produces more power from a smaller package while at the same time maintaining Lab.gruppen’s peerless reputation for sonic excellence. The highs stay crisp and transparent. The mids are warm and natural. And the tight low end delivers visceral impact. You will notice the difference immediately, as will audiences, on-stage performers (when powering monitors), and the event promoters as well. 2x2 + 2x4 = Maximum Flexibility... Reduce Your Rackspace Requirements A bridgeable two-channel amplifier still provides the optimum solution when you need maximum power reserves from one chassis – as when driving massive subwoofers, for example. For these applications, FP+ Series offers the potent FP 7000 and the awe-inspiring FP 13000. However, when it comes to powering multiple mid- and high-frequency drivers, as is the norm for line arrays and extensive stage monitoring systems, four channel amplifiers simply make more sense. You have more discrete channels for more flexibility, yet both space and weight are drastically reduced. The FP+ Series meets this need with two ultrahigh-power, four-channel models: FP 10000Q and the FP 6000Q. FP+ four channel amplifiers are ideally suited to the demanding requirements of modern sound reinforcement systems, and of line arrays in particular. With the extraordinarily high power of the FP 10000Q you can run cabinets in parallel down to 2 ohms in stadium-sized systems and still enjoy generous headroom reserves. The same benefits apply when using the FP 6000Q for medium-sized line arrays. By stocking your racks with higher-power two- and four-channel FP+ amplifiers, your total amplifier count often can be cut in half – or better – when compared to equivalent configurations with other amplifiers, and still with headroom to spare. A few small racks with a total amplifier weight of well under 100 kg can supply ample power for one side of an arena-sized system. When you factor in the size and weight reductions on racks for both sides of the system, the savings in labor and truck space become worthy of serious consideration. More Power Per Lb or Kg, or Per Pound, Dollar, Euro or Yen Another noteworthy benefit is the cost savings on initial investment. Although power reserve have nearly doubled relative to the predecessor fP Series, end user costs per amplifier compare quite favorably. The extra value afforded by the high power density of the FP+ Series was achieved by advanced design and diligent engineering. Although some internal components of the FP+ Series are indeed more costly, the actual component count is substantially less than many lower-power amplifiers. That translates into greater cost-efficiency in production, a bonus that is passed along the end-user. With Lab.gruppen’s FP+ Series, you get more power per pound or kilogram AND more power per pound, dollar, euro, or yen. Praise for the FP+ Series “Since we first started using Lab.gruppen amps, we knew they were something special. We never hesitated putting the new product out with one of our premiere clients. The Black Eyed Peas show demands all the power available from the monitors and PA, so it seemed like a perfect venue for these new Class TD® amplifiers from Lab.gruppen. The configuration of the new FP 10000 four-channel amp presents a very unique and cabinet-friendly power footprint, and the FP 13000 is (to the best of my knowledge) the most powerful amplifier in the world. Given the cost and truck space and fuel issues in our industry today, the value of the compact size and light weight of the new FP+ amps cannot be underestimated. Lab.gruppen amps power all of our touring systems, and the FP+ models will be welcomed with open arms as we continue to expand our services to keep pace with the demand.” Dirk Schubert, Owner, Schubert Systems Group (SSG) Praise for the fP Series: “At the ML Group we power all of our EAW and L-Acoustics systems solely with Lab.gruppen amplifiers, because they are the best on the market. Lab.gruppen products have been an excellent investment because they sound great, and because they are reliable and lightweight. Lab.gruppen is a manufacturer that works closely with its customers and understands their needs. I don’t know of another amplifier manufacturer that comes close…” Gary Marks, ML Executives “When was the last time you found a second-hand Lab.gruppen amplifier? We’ve had some of ours for 15 years — they go on forever and never fail!”...Tim Boyle, Concert Sound Harness The Power of FP+ With NomadLink® and DeviceControl Lab.gruppen’s robust NomadLink network, in conjunction with companion DeviceControl PC software, gives you one-click control of key amplifier functions while keeping close tabs on all critical operating parameters. The NomadLink network can connect your laptop PC to as many as 960 Lab.gruppen FP+ Series amplifiers. Every FP+ Series amplifier equipped with a NomadLink module as standard, making it DeviceControl-ready. Add the optional NLB 60E NomadLink Bridge & Network Controller and your network can be up and running in a matter of minutes. To create a NomadLink network, you simply daisy-chain the In and Out network ports of your amplifiers by snapping in standard Cat-5 cables. Then you connect the first and last amplifiers to the network ports on NLB 60E to form a closed loop. No custom wiring and no software configuration are required. NomadLink is a robust, fully redundant network that is essentially bulletproof. Also, because NomadLink employs a phantom-powered loop (DC power from the NLB 60 to all amplifier modules), you will maintain full network communication even if an amplifier in the system should power off accidentally. Local control and Ethernet extension The NLB 60E functions as stand-alone unit when all you need is basic monitoring and control. Large front panel keys and displays let you power-up and power-down all networked amplifiers, and provide an on-the-spot check for fault indications. However, most users also will want use the NLB 60E as an Ethernet-to-NomadLink bridge in order to access the enhanced feature set of the DeviceControl software. DeviceControl is a powerful tool for real-time monitoring and control as well as offline system configuration. The flexible GUI allows multi-level monitoring of amplifier status, from at-a-glance fault monitoring for an entire system down to detailed status reports on one selected amplifier channel. Channels may be freely configured in groups for simultaneous on/off, mute or solo commands. Also, a handy “match” feature allows a preconfigured system setup to be compared to the actual setup downloaded from the network, ensuring that the intended design was properly configured as a physical system. Options open, now and in the future NomadLink is a robust network dedicated exclusively to monitoring and control of Lab.gruppen amplifiers. It works alongside your existing drive-chain DSP units and signal distribution systems – and their software control programs, if any – without rendering anything obsolete. You do not have to alter, reprogram, reconfigure or replace anything to accommodate NomadLink. When you invest in the FP+ Series and NomadLink, you are not locked into one proprietary system, format, or fixed AD/DA conversion standard. You are free to continue using your existing inventory of drive DSP units as well as your digital or analog snake systems. You can upgrade as you please, whenever costs and technological advances suit your particular needs. You can be confident that your FP+ amplifiers and NomadLink network will remain fully compatible at each stage of your future upgrading program. * If all those amplifiers all happen to be FP 13000s, then indeed you could wield the power of – to be exact – 12,480,000 watts. And if this system is ever created, please notify the Guinness Book of Records immediately! Every FP+ Series amplifier is designed, engineered, assembled, and rigorously tested at Lab.gruppen’s manufacturing facility in Kungsbacka, Sweden. The uncompromising dedication to quality and craftsmanship is evident in every detail. Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply (R.SMPS™) Lab.gruppen pioneered the use of switch mode power supplies in power amplifiers, and the latest generation of this technology plays a key role in enabling the extreme power density of the FP+ Series. Precise regulation maintains constant voltage on the internal rails, ensuring full output power and undistorted sound even when the mains voltage drops as much as 20% below nominal. The FP+ power supply transformer incorporates an enhanced ferrite core which, compared to iron core transformers, dramatically reduces weight and contributes to overall efficiency. Class TD® output stage Lab.gruppen’s FP+ Series amplifiers share an output stage that is literally in a Class by itself: the patented Class TD. A breakthrough design that occupied Lab.gruppen’s co-founder Kenneth Andersson for nearly two years, Class TD combines the high efficiency of a digital Class D with the sonic purity of classic Class B designs. The power supply rails precisely track the audio signal at all times, providing the required voltage plus additional headroom. This process is highly efficient, with only a tiny portion of the supplied voltage emitted as heat in the output stage. The audio path itself remains entirely in the analog domain: it never enters the switching portion of the circuit, and therefore is not subject to the ripple effects of the extreme filtering required by the PWM Class D approach. Class TD is bridgeable, highly reliable, and maintains a flat response with complex loads as low as 2 ohms nominal. Also, it does not interfere with RF equipment such as wireless (radio) microphones. Intercooler® for efficient, uniform cooling The compact and ultra-efficient Intercooler uses thousands of tiny cooper cooling fins to increase exposure of the heat sink to the cooling air flow. Twin variable-speed fans respond to temperature sensors, forcing air over the Intercooler fins in a front-to-rear flow. All output devices are mounted transverse to the airflow, so the cooling effect is uniform. There are no “end of tunnel” output transistors subject to greater warming and, consequently, possible premature failure. Configurable for any signal, any load Each FP+ amplifier offers an eight position input gain switch to optimize performance with any input signal. In addition, each channel incorporates Lab.gruppen’s exclusive Voltage Peak Limiter (VPL) circuit. VPL precisely tailors output for any type of load, from a single massive 2-ohm subwoofer to a series of 16-ohm mid- or high-frequency drivers. Working in concert, adjustable input gain and VPL optimizes each channel for maximum headroom regardless of input signal dynamics or load impedances. A full suite of protection features Lab.gruppen’s FP+ Series incorporates comprehensive warning and protection features to protect the amplifier and any connected loudspeaker drivers. Front panel indicators and the DeviceControl GUI give clear warnings when any potential problems are detected. Protection measures are enabled only when critical thresholds are passed: measurements are re-checked every few seconds, and normal operation resumes automatically when nominal conditions are restored. The complete protection/warning suite includes: DC at output, short circuit, excessive output current, sustained very high frequency (VHF), and open load. The FP+ Series also includes features to guard against inadvertent tripping of the mains fuse or external circuit breakers, either during a performance or at start-up. While in operation, a Power Average Limiter (PAL) constantly monitors the current-drawing relationship between the power supply and the mains inlet. If conditions are detected where the power amplifier could draw more than the mains inlet can supply, PAL limits current draw to prevent power interruption. Additionally, a soft-start circuit limits initial current draw when amplifier is turned on. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
