Description
Pair of vintage studio amps made by Maihak for german broadcast in the 1950s and early 1960s, same brilliant topology as the famous Telefunken V69 amplifiers, using phase splitting input transformer and 2x EF804S driver stage, but featuring a pair of EL42 tubes instead of the F2a11 for approx. 4...5 watts of output.Pure and sweet, much more sophisticated with human vocals and natural instruments than the higher powered (but somehow strange circuit) TAB V81 - so especially suited for large horn speakers like Altec "Voice of the Theatre" and high sensitivity fullrange concepts like Lowther, Saba Greencone, Klangfilm Kl32006 or similar. One of the few serious alternatives to a single ended triode like 300B or AD1. These two amps have been gently restored a few years ago, keeping them as close to original as possible (trying to improve a V73 would be a rather senseless!) and have been played occasionally on my VOTT A7-500 since then without any problems. Sound has always been excellent, with a magic clearness and speed which is rather impossibe to describe. However, as I have a second pair of these and need some room in the Danner frame for a V76 based phono project, I finally decided to split with this two fellows. Included will be a printout of the IRT "Braunbuch" description with schematic and a pair of tuchel connectors so the buyer can make his own cabling using his or her preferred materials. Please note these amps will need exactly 220V mains voltage, so a step-up or step-down transformer might be necessary for your country. Besides that, using them is absolutely straight forward: just connecting preamp and speakers, selecting 4 or 16 ohms impedance by wire and setting the input sensitivity with the volume controls on the front panel. However, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Shipping worldwide at actual cost (approx. $20 for Germany, $35 ... $50 for Europe and $100 ... $250 for overseas, depending on your location and whether you prefer surface or air parcel), PayPal welcome. Please also see my other auctions for some more tube audio (V72, EL34, etc.) from downsizing my collection...
