The M 149 is a top model in the area of tube technology and recipient of several awards as a high-tech tool for professionals. Not entirely coincidentally, the finish is reminiscent of that of the classic U 47 of the 1950s. The headgrille and lower part look chrome-plated, but in fact have a high-quality platinum finish. The body has the well-known Neumann nickel finish. In addition, the "75 Years" logo is engraved on the front, and all of the microphones bear consecutive serial numbers of the limited edition of 500. Mic cables, 2 power supplies and aluminum case are all included.   The Neumann M 149 Tube is a variable dual-diaphragm microphone. The K 49 capsule well known from the legendary U 47 and M 49 microphones is followed by a tube functioning as an impedance converter. In contrast to earlier concepts utilizing a transformer the tube is complemented with a transformerless output circuit design. The M 149 Tube can thus feed long microphone cables without any coloration. Two slide switches are located below the large, acoustically very open headgrille. The switch at the front allows selection one of nine directional patterns. The slide switch at the rear operates a seven-step high pass filter. It allows a very fine adjustment of the cut-off frequency. Intermediate positions of each are located in between the pattern designations. • Low Frequency Roll-Off Switch A 7-position low frequency roll-off switch is located at the rear of the microphone.
